Ulukau is a large and hugely ambitious
digital library project based in Hawaii. It contains an enormous amount
of information and continues to have Hawaiian and English content
added.
Ulukau is split into sub-sites, including Hawaiian and English
dictionaries, Hawaiian newspapers, an historic Hawaiian language bible,
and many books about Hawaii, both in Hawaiian and in English.
All of the components of Ulukau were
developed by Digital Library Consulting using Greenstone. Greenstone's powerful
tools make it easy to create sites that support multiple languages
including those that require more than the Latin character set. It is
planned that eventually all of the components of Ulukau will be
available in both English and Hawaiian.
